Open for Super Skiing Sunday 2/13 with great conditions!

We will be open Sunday 2/14 from 9:00am – 4:30pm. Come enjoy the freshly-groomed trails on SUPER SKIING SUNDAY!

Current Trail Conditions

We had a great day of skiing on Saturday, and many skiers were commenting on how much fun they had and how grateful they were that we were open. The trails will freeze overnight, but we will groom Sunday morning to ensure that the trail conditions are superb for tomorrow. We are looking forward to another awesome day of skiing on Sunday!

Special thanks to Skip and Sue Stackhouse for making a large number of new trail signs. We are working to get them all up to replace many old or missing signs.

Road Conditions

The mountain road is much improved from last week as much of the ice has melted off. Our part of the road is very well cindered. However, some sections will still be slick due to re-freezing overnight. We strongly recommend that guests have snow tires and/or chains to make it up the mountain, in addition to 4WD or AWD. Crystal Lake is not responsible for assisting anyone who gets stuck. The best option is to call non-emergency police for assistance, or Shrewsbury township for plow help: (570) 584-3079.

We will be open Saturday 2/12 from 9:00am – 4:30pm and through the weekend. Come enjoy the groomed trails! Check in will be at the Ski Shop for the weekend.

Current Trail Conditions

We have spent the first part of this week completely re-furbishing our grooming equipment to match the standard of our new snowmobile. We tested it today and everything is now working great. We groomed today with our better defined “corduroy” surface and set fresh traditional tracks. The trails are fast and slick in some areas and temperatures are warming up so trails are getting soft.

Mid-day update for Friday 2/11

The trails have softened up due to the warm temperatures this afternoon (currently 46 degrees at 1:46pm). However, the trails are still groomed nicely with a “corduroy” surface and set tracks.

Open Friday 2/11 and through the weekend with excellent conditions

We will be open Friday 2/11 from 9:00am – 4:30pm and through the weekend. Come enjoy the groomed trails! We will be operating out of our camp office today (Laughlin Lodge), so please stop there at the sign in the road to check in upon arrival rather than going straight to the Ski Shop. For the weekend, we will be operating out of the Ski Shop.

Current Trail Conditions

We have spent the first part of this week completely re-furbishing our grooming equipment to match the standard of our new snowmobile. We tested it today and everything is now working great. We are grooming this morning with our better defined “corduory” surface and fresh set traditional tracks. Early skiing should be excellent and may soften up as the temperature rises in the afternoon. We have plenty of good snow on the trails and expect good skiing for the weekend.

Special thanks to Skip and Sue Stackhouse for making a large number of new trail signs. We are working to get them all up as they have been needed to replace many old or missing signs. Now skiers should be able to make it around the Blue Moon trail and not get caught up in the Yo Yo’s.

Despite the warmer temperature swings this week, we have kept a good base, especially since our ski trails are north-facing. With the forecast in flux over the next few weeks, we are continuing to work hard to maintain the best possible ski conditions. Stay tuned for updates.

Open Friday 2/11 and through the weekend as conditions allow with half day rates all day

We will be open Friday 2/11 from 9:00am – 4:30pm with half day rates all day. Come enjoy the groomed trails! We will be operating out of our camp office (Laughlin Lodge), so please stop there at the sign in the road to check in upon arrival rather than going straight to the Ski Shop.

Current Trail Conditions

The trails are especially fit for experienced skiers and are great for skaters. We had snow showers this morning and then grooming the trails all afternoon, so the trail conditions are even better than earlier this week.  Icy patches on the trails have been broken up by the grooming process, allowing for more traction in those areas. Please note that we’re in the process of determining if we can set some tracks. We’ll provide further updates once we know.

Despite the warmer temperature swings this week, we have kept a good base, especially since our ski trails are north-facing. With the forecast in flux, we are continuing to work hard to maintain the best possible ski conditions. Stay tuned for updates.

The trails are fit for experienced skiers, and are especially great for skaters. Skiers might consider bringing their metal-edged skis. No tracks are currently set.

Despite the warmer temperature swings this week, we have kept a good base, especially since our ski trails are north-facing.  We plan to touch up the trails tonight and tomorrow morning, so some of the ice that has fallen onto the trails will be cleaned up.
